Due to the winter weather situation, the Melissa High School judged cheerleading tryouts are being rescheduled from Thursday, Feb. 24, and the tryout clinic scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 23 is canceled. The new date for judged tryouts will be posted on the events calendar and at www.melissaisd.org/cheer as soon as it is determined.
Due to the winter weather forecast and increasingly hazardous road conditions across the metroplex, Melissa ISD will be closed Thursday, February 24. All extracurricular activities are canceled for both Wednesday and Thursday. Carpool and bus delays are expected during Wednesday afternoon dismissal. Melissa ISD will continue to monitor conditions throughout the day on Thursday and will communicate if the decision is made to close or delay school on Friday, February 25. All Melissa ISD extracurricular activities are canceled for the afternoon of Wednesday, February 23. We are closely monitoring the weather forecast and road conditions with the safety of everyone top-of-mind. We will continue to monitor outside temperatures, precipitation, and road conditions, and will communicate later today if the decision is made to close or delay school on Thursday, February 24. During Wednesday afternoon dismissal, please know that our bus drivers and staff will be exercising extreme caution. Carpool and bus delays are expected today. We appreciate your patience.

As a reminder, Melissa ISD students do not have school on Monday, Feb. 21 due to a scheduled Staff Development Day. School will resume Tuesday, Feb. 22.

Melissa ISD parents and guardians, please be reminded that our school front offices do not accept outside deliveries for students, unless brought in by the student's parent or guardian. As we approach Valentine's Day on Monday, Feb. 14, please note that our campuses will not have a space for students to receive or store gifts; please consider planning your celebrations and gift-giving outside of the school day. Planning to try out for the Melissa High School cheerleading squad for the 2022-2023 school year? Interested students, along with a parent/guardian, are required to attend the mandatory Cheerleading Student/Parent Informational Meeting, either on Monday, Feb. 14 or Tuesday, Feb. 15 from 6:00 - 6:30 p.m. at the Championship Center, Room 106B. The Melissa ISD drive-thru COVID-19 testing site will be closed on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Monday, Jan. 17. The drive-thru testing window is 7:15 – 10:15 a.m. on days that school is in session. For our scheduled Teacher Work Day on Tuesday, Jan. 18, the drive-thru testing window will move to 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. Drive-thru testing is now only available by text appointment.
