Melissa ISD students in grades 5-12 are required to have parental consent to check out books from the school library that are outside of the standard juvenile collection. Parents and guardians were sent a notice about this requirement and a link to a consent form in an email from the district on Friday, Sept. 9, 2022. If you did not receive this information, please contact your student’s school or visit the news section of the Melissa ISD website/app.

This year's Birdie Fan Club is accepting new members through Friday, Oct. 7! The Birdie Fan Club is open to students in Pre-K through 5th grade. All members receive an official t-shirt in addition to being VIPs at varsity football home games. Grandparents' Day lunches are scheduled for Sept. 7-9! These three days are designated for grandparents to eat lunch at school with their grandchildren. Your student's last name and grade level will determine their Grandparents' Day lunch date and time. No other family visitors will be permitted during your student's Grandparents' Day lunch due to space limitations and the intent for our grandparents to have a comfortable and enjoyable experience with our Cardinals. Here are a few reminders: 1. Please plan to arrive 20-30 minutes before your scheduled lunch hour, as we anticipate a large crowd! 2. Please be sure to bring your ID. 3. Wednesday (A-I), Thursday (J-R), Friday (S-Z) 4. Please see lunch times below. We can't wait to see all the Grandparents:)

We look forward to welcoming our Cardinals back to school on Tuesday, Aug. 23! If you plan to have your student ride the bus on Tuesday, you must complete the transportation registration form online by 11:59 p.m. this Sunday, Aug. 21. To learn more and access the form, visit this link: https://www.melissaisd.org/transportation. If you have not completed this form for the 2022-2023 school year, your student is not yet registered to ride the bus. We understand that there has been confusion regarding transportation registration, and we hope that this extended timeline is helpful for families in need of bus service.

#WWEmpowers Meet the Teacher: Willow Wood Elementary parents/guardians and students can meet their classroom teacher and bring their school supplies to campus on Thursday, Aug. 18, 2022. There are two opportunities to attend: 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. or 4-6 p.m. The event is come and go. Our school is located at 5780 Parkdale Drive, McKinney, TX 75071. Families are welcome to attend Meet the Teacher during either session, but those that can attend the morning session are encouraged to do so due to limited parking on campus. Teacher assignments will be emailed to parents/guardians prior to Meet the Teacher.

For the Uvalde Community: Melissa ISD Superintendent Keith Murphy, the Board of Trustees, and all of Team Melissa join fellow Texans in grieving the devastating loss of innocent lives at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde. We are holding the Uvalde community close to our hearts, and we extend our prayers, support, and deepest condolences to all those affected. Our school counselors are available for any students and staff who are struggling to cope during this difficult time.
