Leadership Updates

Melissa ISD is excited to announce these leadership updates to the Melissa ISD elementary campuses for the 2026-2027 school year. Learn more about each of these campus leaders below:


Angie Slicker, Cardinal Renaissance Academy Principal

Mrs. Angie Slicker brings 18 years of educational experience and four years in Melissa ISD to her new role as principal of CRA for the 2026-2027 school year. Before joining MISD as the Assistant Principal at North Creek Elementary, Mrs. Slicker worked as an instructional coach, was the head of the math department at her school, and taught in Allen ISD.

Principal Slicker shared her excitement for the journey ahead, “I am so excited to open the doors of Cardinal Renaissance Academy where curiosity leads the way, learning comes to life through meaningful projects, and our community comes together to help every child grow and shine in their own way.”

The Executive Director of Campus Services Walter Perez shared, “Angie Slicker is an exceptional leader whose servant heart, innovative mindset, and unwavering commitment to students make her the ideal choice to launch and lead our new innovative academy.” 


Julie Armstrong, Willow Wood Elementary Principal

Mrs. Julie Armstrong brings 18 years of educational experience and seven years in Melissa ISD to her new role as principal of WWE for the 2026-2027 school year. Since the opening of WWE in 2021, she has served as the assistant principal. Prior to that, she taught 2nd and 4th grade and served as a math coach in Melissa, Richardson, and Quinlan ISDs.

Principal Armstrong shared her heartfelt thoughts on stepping into this role, “I’m excited for the opportunity to continue strengthening relationships with the students, staff, and Willow Wood community. Creating an environment where students and staff feel empowered to take thoughtful, calculated risks in support of growth is something that is truly near and dear to my heart.”

Deputy Superintendent Kim Boedeker shared, “Julie is deeply rooted in keeping the consistency and stability of the momentum going at a highly successful campus. She is passionate about our schools and community, and I look forward to seeing her footprint on Willow Wood Elementary."
