The FAFSA application for 2027-2028 is open! According to House Bill 3, every senior must complete either the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or a state-mandated opt-out form in order to graduate. Melissa High School will host FAFSA Night on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Representatives from Collin College will provide an overview of the application process and answer any questions families may have. As part of the project, students will use the information provided by their client to develop marketing strategies based on real needs and goals. Melissa ISD families are invited to come together for a special community service event to help prepare students for a successful school year on Sunday, July 26, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Cardinal Renaissance Academy Gym (2950 Cardinal Drive).
Thanks to a generous donation from Verizon Melissa, 600 backpacks have been provided for Melissa ISD students. Community members are invited to help fill the backpacks with school supplies to ensure students begin the school year prepared and ready to learn.
This is a wonderful opportunity to serve together as a family while meeting other Melissa ISD families and staff.
How families can help:
Bring new school supplies to donate. Note: Families who bring donations will be entered into a raffle for prizes from local businesses.
Help sort and fill backpacks.
