Melissa Schools will celebrate Kindness Week from Monday, March 28 through Friday, April 1, 2022, with a variety of activities available to encourage acts of kindness and expressions of gratitude among Melissa ISD students, staff, and the community.

Below are four different ways to participate in Kindness Week:

  1. Incorporate acts of kindness into your week using ideas from our Kindness BINGO card
  2. Get creative using our kindness-themed coloring sheets designed by students.
  3. Submit a Kindness Story about a Cardinal who has shown you kindness.
  4. Share your definition of "kindness" on social media.

Since 2016, Melissa ISD and the City of Melissa have celebrated Kindness Week each spring, with a hiatus during COVID-19. Kindness Week 2022 was declared in an official proclamation by City of Melissa Mayor Reed Greer.

“We are excited to bring back Kindness Week and engage our community during a time when kindness and gratitude are as important as ever,” said Kim Boedeker, Deputy Superintendent at Melissa Schools. “Kindness and gratitude are pillars of ‘The Cardinal Way’ and we encourage both in our schools every day. Taking a week to highlight these efforts, especially those from our Cardinals, is special to us and we hope everyone will join in.”

The Kindness Week proclamation reminds us that:

  • Respect, dignity, compassion, and humility are essential in creating and maintaining a civilized society.
  • We hold the power of kindness within us.
  • In using our power of kindness, we can create a ripple effect.
  • Everyone can make a difference in our community and our world.
  • Through random acts of kindness, we can help to make our community a better place, and ourselves and those around us better people.
  • We all can cultivate caring, kindness, and compassion within our community through random acts of kindness.

Follow the Kindness Week initiative through the hashtag #CardinalKindness on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram the week of March 28 - April 1, 2022. Kindness Week stories and social media participation will be posted online at www.melissaisd.org/bekind.
