Seven students from the Melissa High School choir program were selected for the All-Region Choir after auditioning last week at the All-Region Competition in Krum.
Paris Church, Hannah Luke, and Victoria Vargas earned a place in the All-Region Treble Choir. Kaycee Fender, John Goers, Gabi Jones, and Logan Lowery earned a place in the All-Region Mixed Choir. The students will perform at the All-Region Clinic and Concert on Nov. 6 at the Christ United Methodist Church in Plano, and will then advance to the Pre-Area Competition on Nov. 29 at Krum High School.
In preparation for the All-Region Competition, the students learned “Arirang” by Hyo-Won Woo and “This is the Day” by Keith Hampton. The audition required the singers to perform a small selection from each piece of music and sight-read eight measures of music, all before a panel of five judges.
“The Melissa High School choir is very proud to have seven of our singers make the All-Region Choir,” said choir director Ryan Smith.
