We hope to hold the commencement ceremony for the Melissa High School Class of 2026 as scheduled on Thursday, May 21, at 8 p.m. at Coach Kenny Deel Stadium. Due to the forecasted weather conditions, we want to ensure our seniors, families, and staff have the latest graduation updates.
If weather conditions are not suitable for an outdoor ceremony at the scheduled start time, graduation may be delayed in 30-minute increments up to no later than a 10 p.m. start. In the event of severe weather on Thursday evening, standard stadium weather procedures will be followed. Attendees will be directed back to their vehicles, and graduating seniors will proceed to the Championship Center.
If weather conditions do not improve Thursday evening, the ceremony will be moved to Friday, May 22, at 1:30 p.m. Melissa ISD administration reviewed multiple contingency plans and alternate start times, and the Friday afternoon option best ensures all graduating seniors are able to participate in this important milestone, while also allowing staff members and student participants to support the ceremony.
We are hopeful the weather will clear and that we will be able to celebrate the Class of 2026 together as scheduled on Thursday evening. We appreciate everyone’s patience, flexibility, and support as we continue to monitor conditions and prioritize a safe and memorable ceremony for our seniors.
Any schedule changes or delays will be communicated directly to Melissa ISD families, and updates will also be posted at www.melissaisd.org/alerts.
