DAR Essay Contest Winner

Melissa High School students, junior Karunya Thirumalasetty, freshman Vanshika Pathani, and freshman Viswa Sai Tej Pamidi have been recognized by the local John F. Greer Chapter for their outstanding Daughters of the American Revolution Essay Contest. Vanshika previously won the local, state, and South Central DAR essay contests as a middle school student last year, and this year she was named the local high school winner, advancing to compete at the state level once again.

This year’s essay challenged students to explore an important figure from the American Revolution and examine the impact of their contributions. All three students were honored for their thoughtful analysis and strong writing on the historical figures they chose.

Sponsored locally by the John F. Greer Chapter, which serves the Melissa, Anna, and Blue Ridge communities, the contest begins at the chapter level. Vanshika’s winning essay now advances to the Texas Society DAR level, where it will compete against nearly 200 essays from across the state.

The DAR Essay Contest offers students the opportunity to engage deeply with American history while developing critical thinking and writing skills. These students’ accomplishments highlight their dedication to academic excellence and earn them well-deserved recognition.

Congratulations again to all three students and best wishes to Vanshika as she continues to represent Melissa High School School at the state level!
