Behind every great school year is a team of dedicated educators putting in the work before the first bell rings. At East Cardinal Middle School, our teachers are hard at work prepping, planning, and setting the stage for an amazing new year. The energy is building, the excitement is real, and we can’t wait to welcome our Cardinal Scholars back....The countdown is on!

Melissa ISD families are invited to come together for a special community service event to help prepare students for a successful school year on Sunday, July 26, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Cardinal Renaissance Academy Gym (2950 Cardinal Drive).
Thanks to a generous donation from Verizon Melissa, 600 backpacks have been provided for Melissa ISD students. Community members are invited to help fill the backpacks with school supplies to ensure students begin the school year prepared and ready to learn.
This is a wonderful opportunity to serve together as a family while meeting other Melissa ISD families and staff.
How families can help:
Bring new school supplies to donate. Note: Families who bring donations will be entered into a raffle for prizes from local businesses.
Help sort and fill backpacks.
Meet school staff and build community.
Enjoy family-friendly games and activities.
Grab dinner or a sweet treat from the food trucks.
The backpack fill event is proudly sponsored by all Melissa ISD elementary PTOs and serves as an opportunity for the district and community to work together in supporting local students. Every backpack filled helps ensure another Melissa ISD student starts the school year feeling prepared, encouraged, and supported.
Calling All Local Businesses!
If your business would like to be part of this community-wide event by donating school supplies, hosting a booth, or finding another way to support Melissa ISD students, we would love to partner with you. Please reach out to your campus PTO for more information. Together, we can make an even bigger impact for local families and help students start the school year prepared for success.
Backpack Request Information
To help ensure backpacks reach families who would benefit most, Melissa ISD families needing assistance with school supplies are encouraged to complete the Backpack Request Form.

Last Friday, our ECMS Varsity Percussion competed in the TCU percussion contest. Not only did they get to experience performing in the beautiful TCU facilities, they did an outstanding job. Each piece they performed was ranked in the middle school advanced division. They placed 2nd, 4th, and 5th with the three ensembles that performed. We are incredibly proud of their dedication and success!

Whether you're a seasoned golfer or just in it for the fun, this event is a great way to connect with fellow community members while making a meaningful impact. Sponsorships and team entries directly support our students, coaches, and directors across Melissa ISD. We hope you’ll join us for a morning of friendly competition, community, and Cardinal pride!
