Join us at Melissa High School for the IB Theory of Knowledge (TOK) Exhibition on Tuesday, April 21, from 6:00-8:00 PM in the MHS Student Union. This come-and-go event is open to the public and offers a unique look into the IB Diploma Programme. Similar to a modern-day “science fair,” students will showcase their work while exploring big ideas and philosophical questions. Visitors are invited to engage in meaningful conversations and see how students connect knowledge to real-world experiences.

Melissa ISD will host the 16th annual Special Olympics track meet on Friday, April 24, at the Cardinal Stadium (next to the Melissa Sixth Grade Center), welcoming student-athletes from several area schools. Opening ceremonies begin at 9:30 a.m., with track and field events starting at 10 a.m. We welcome the community to come out and cheer on our Cardinal athletes! 🌟
Last Friday, our ECMS Varsity Percussion competed in the TCU percussion contest. Not only did they get to experience performing in the beautiful TCU facilities, they did an outstanding job. Each piece they performed was ranked in the middle school advanced division. They placed 2nd, 4th, and 5th with the three ensembles that performed. We are incredibly proud of their dedication and success!
As a reminder, Friday, March 13, will be a Staff Development Day, and there will be no school for students. Melissa ISD will then be closed for Spring Break, March 16-20. We look forward to welcoming our students back on Monday, March 23. We hope you all have a wonderful Spring Break! 🌸

East Cardinal Middle School cheerleading tryouts are scheduled for Friday, Feb. 20! Tryouts are open to incoming 7th and 8th grade students who are interested in being a cheerleader or "Birdie" the mascot. Those who plan to try out must attend a mandatory meeting with their parent/guardian and are encouraged to attend the clinics scheduled to learn and practice the tryout material. The Melissa High School and East Cardinal Middle School Robotics teams are competing this week at the UIL State Robotics Competition, The 2025 BEST Division Championship, taking place December 10–13 at the Fair Park Coliseum in Dallas. This marks the 10th consecutive year the MHS team has advanced to state, earned multiple top-six finishes, and been named state runner-up three times. This year’s team is aiming higher than ever! Secondary campuses will be on Early Release Schedule for students this Friday, Dec. 12, due to student extracurricular absences and transportation needs related to the playoff football game. Secondary campuses will follow the early release schedule with MHS ending at 12:10 p.m. and ECMS and SGC ending at 12:35 p.m. Secondary student transportation will be provided on an early release schedule. Melissa ISD is proud to announce that IB MYP Coordinator Eydie Simpson has been selected to represent the Middle Years Programme on the Texas Association of IB Schools (TIBS) Board. This honor highlights her leadership in IB education and her commitment to supporting strong, student-centered learning in Melissa. In this new role, she will collaborate with IB leaders across Texas and help guide statewide conversations that impact IB programmes. Her involvement will also bring valuable insights and best practices back to our district, strengthening alignment, teacher learning, and student experiences. This is an exciting milestone for both Simpson and the MYP program. Please join us in congratulating her on this well-deserved recognition!
