Melissa ISD parents and guardians of 6th-12th grade students were sent a notice on Tuesday, Nov. 29 with information about an early release from school on Friday, Dec. 2. You can also find this notice in our "Documents" section under Letters to Parents/Guardians.
Melissa ISD students in grades 6-12 will have early release from school on Friday, Dec. 2, 2022 according to the early release times listed below. This decision was made in order to best accommodate bus transportation for our afternoon bus riders and the large number of students participating in offsite school events and contests that afternoon.
- Students in Pre-K through 5th grade will not have early release on Friday and will follow their school’s regular afternoon dismissal procedures. Our younger Cardinals can be checked out early from school on Friday at the discretion of their parent or guardian.
- While not originally scheduled on the 2022-2023 academic calendar, this early release day for secondary students will not have to be made up at a later date.
Campus Early Release Times:
- Melissa High School @ 1:15 p.m. (Students will follow their normal class schedule and will be released during 5th period.)
- Melissa Middle School & Sixth Grade Center @ 1:35 p.m.
For afternoon bus riders in 6th-12th grade, buses will run approximately three hours ahead of their normal route schedule. (Note: Early dropoff times will not be reflected in Ride360.)
The community is invited to join us in supporting our student programs by attending the following school events and contests on Friday, Dec. 2, all of which will be open to the public.
