The Melissa Elementary Reading Festival returns the evening of Thursday, Nov. 10, 2022, as part of an ongoing initiative at Melissa Schools to cultivate a love of reading in all students and “grow through the pages”. Open to the community, the two-hour festival will be held from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at Harry McKillop Elementary, located at 3509 Liberty Way, Melissa, TX 75454.

Families can meet and get autographs from children’s book authors Patricia Vermillion (“Hound Dawg”, “Texas Chili? Oh My!”) and Cynthia Wildridge (“Bun E. Boniface” series), both of whom will give presentations. The festival will feature literacy activities for the whole family, a helicopter landing, food trucks, and performances by the Melissa Middle School theatre program.
