Amy Edwards and Will Daniel

New campus principals have been selected to serve at North Creek Elementary and the Sixth Grade Center at Melissa Middle School following the conclusion of the 2021-2022 school year.

Amy Edwards will serve as the principal at North Creek Elementary, after serving as the assistant principal for the past year. Michele Austin, the school’s principal since 2018, will move into a new leadership role at Melissa ISD as the District Wellness Coordinator.

Will Daniel will serve as the principal at the Sixth Grade Center alongside Melissa Middle School principal, Marcus Eckert. For the past year, Mr. Daniel served as the assistant principal at Harry McKillop Elementary. Current Sixth Grade Center interim principal, Joel Stanford, is pursuing leadership opportunities outside of Melissa ISD.

"We strive to develop our campus leaders and highlight their strengths while providing opportunities and support to meet the needs of our students, staff, and community,” said Kim Boedeker, Deputy Superintendent at Melissa Schools. “We look forward to the continued impact Ms. Austin will have on our students and staff across the district as she leads our wellness programs. All involved in the hiring process for the two principal positions expressed full confidence that Ms. Edwards and Mr. Daniel will thrive in their new roles; it is evident that they are already Cardinals through and through."

Ms. Edwards shared, “Becoming part of the Melissa family has been such a great experience and I feel blessed to be surrounded by some of the best students, families, and educators. I am committed to providing our students at North Creek Elementary a high quality education and I feel confident that our team is prepared to take on whatever challenges our students face in and outside of the classroom. I look forward to supporting, encouraging, growing, and leading alongside our amazing campus staff.”

Mr. Daniel shared, “I am incredibly excited to serve as the new principal of our Sixth Grade Center. Sixth grade is such a special milestone in our students' lives as it marks an exciting moment of academic and personal growth. At the Sixth Grade Center, we have the special privilege of being a critical part of the elementary student’s transition into middle school. I am committed to developing all of our students through strong relationships and powerful instruction. With our district's core values as the foundation of our work, it is our mission to bridge our students’ amazing elementary experiences with their new secondary ones and set them on a trajectory of continued academic and personal excellence.”
