Three high school students: Kyah Wells, Logan Lowery, and Mattie McGrady

Three speech and debate students from Melissa High School have qualified to advance to the National Speech and Debate Association (NSDA) National Tournament this summer in Louisville, Kentucky.

Logan Lowery is senior at Melissa High School and a four-time national qualifier who is looking to improve upon his quarterfinal appearance from last year's tournament in the Duo Interpretation event. Also competing in Duo Interpretation is two time national qualifier, senior Mattie McGrady. Two-time national qualifier, junior Kyah Wells, will compete in the Humorous Interpretation event.

In order to qualify for NSDA nationals, the students had to place in the top two in their respective events at the district competition. All three students prepare for NSDA competition through the Oral Interpretation class at Melissa High School and by traveling to speech and debate tournaments throughout the year.

The Melissa High School speech and debate program is led by Kyle Brenner and Megan Moore.
