Melissa Ruby Belles to Compete at TDEA North Texas Advancing Pilot Contest at Coach Kenny Deel Stadium

On Monday, November 2, the Melissa High School Ruby Belles will participate in the Texas Dance Educators Association (TDEA) North Texas Advancing Pilot Contest at Coach Kenny Deel Stadium. The Ruby Belles will perform at 11:40 a.m. We encourage Cardinal families to come out, show their support, and cheer on our talented students.

The TDEA Dance Team Assessments evaluate high school dance and drill teams on precision, technique, choreography, and showmanship. Teams perform a routine for a panel of three judges and receive a Division I through IV rating based on their performance. The Ruby Belles will perform one of their halftime routines and participate in their first TDEA assessment.

The Texas Dance Educators Association has been piloting the assessment program for three years with the goal of establishing it as a UIL-sanctioned event. This year's North Texas contest will feature 31 teams from Class 4A through 6A schools. As part of the pilot, TDEA is introducing a finals round for 5A teams, with the top-scoring teams advancing to compete for first, second, and third place.

Tickets are $10 per person, plus fees, and can be purchased at www.melissaisd.org/fine-arts-tickets.
