Melissa High School Choir Sets New School and District Records in TMEA All-State Auditions

Melissa High School’s Choir program had 17 students compete in the second round of the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) All-State Choir audition process. Of those students, 12 earned a place in the TMEA Region 25 All-Region Choir, and two advanced to the third round of All-State auditions. This marks a new school record for the Melissa High School Choir program, as well as a new district record, highlighting an impressive milestone for the students and the program.

As part of the audition process, students had just two and a half weeks to learn and prepare two collegiate-level audition pieces before performing for the judges. The process challenges students to demonstrate their vocal ability, musical understanding, and performance skills in a highly competitive setting.

Advancing students, juniors Shekinah Baldovino and Seth Paul, will continue their All-State journey on November 17 at Plano East Senior High School, where they will compete in the third round of auditions for a chance to advance in the selection process.

Congratulations to all 17 students on their hard work and accomplishments, and to the 12 students who earned All-Region honors. We are especially proud of Shekinah and Seth as they continue representing Melissa High School Choir at the next level of competition. Best of luck in Round 3!
