Melissa High School is going head-to-head with Frisco Lone Star High School this week in the Friday Night Lights competition on New Country 96.3 and 99.5 The Wolf. The competition coincides with the Cardinals’ varsity football matchup against Lone Star on Friday, Sept. 25, at Coach Kenny Deel Stadium. Voting is now open and will remain open through Sunday, Sept. 27, at 11:59 p.m., giving fans from both schools the opportunity to show their support throughout the week.
Friday Night Lights is a community-wide competition that celebrates local high school football, cheer and dance programs while giving schools the opportunity to compete for $2,000 for their athletic department, courtesy of Kroger and Tarrant County College. Each week, competing schools are invited to participate in a Kroger Spirit Night where they will help to bag groceries, greet customers and take on the Community Challenge. Melissa High School athletes and supporters will participate in the challenge on Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Melissa Kroger, giving the school the opportunity to earn an additional $500 for its athletic department while building support for the Cardinals throughout the week. When you vote, Kroger will also send you a coupon for $10 off a $100 purchase.
The weekly winner will be announced the following Monday on-air and across New Country 96.3 and 99.5 The Wolf’s social media platforms. All weekly winners will advance to the season championship, which will begin at 6 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 2, and end at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 8. The winner of the season championship will receive the $2,000 grand prize for their athletic department.
