Melissa ISD is pleased to announce the appointment of Walter Perez as a Melissa ISD Deputy Superintendent after faithfully serving in the role of Executive Director of Campus Services for Melissa ISD for several years. With 30 years in education, Mr. Perez brings extensive experience in educational leadership and a deep commitment to serving students, educators, and the community.
“Mr. Perez exemplifies the highest standard of care for our students and staff. He is always willing to go the extra mile to ensure the success of our campuses and students,” shared Superintendent Keith Murphy.
Mr. Perez began his career at Tyler ISD as an elementary 4th-5th grade, bilingual, and gifted and talented teacher before moving into campus leadership roles, serving as an assistant principal and principal at elementary campuses in Tyler ISD. He then joined Melissa ISD in 2016 as the principal of Harry McKillop Elementary, where he helped support the growth and success of the campus community. In 2019, he transitioned to the district level as the Executive Director of Elementary Education, and in 2021, he was named Executive Director of Campus Services. Throughout his time with Melissa ISD, Mr. Perez has played an important role in helping advance the district’s goals and working alongside staff to support the success of campuses across Melissa ISD.
“Melissa is a special place filled with people who genuinely care about students and believe in what is possible,” said Mr. Perez. “When I joined Melissa ISD, I knew I was becoming part of a community that was experiencing a special time of growth and opportunity. I am thankful for the relationships I have built and the experiences I have shared with our students, staff, and families. I am honored to continue serving Melissa ISD in this new role and look forward to working alongside our team to create more opportunities and success for every student.”
As Deputy Superintendent, Mr. Perez will continue his commitment to serving Melissa ISD and supporting the district’s mission of providing a world-class experience for every student. The district is excited to have Mr. Perez step into this role and looks forward to the leadership he will provide as Melissa ISD continues to grow.
