Michelle Ycaza, Highland Elementary Dean of Students

Michelle Ycaza brings 13 years of educational experience and five years in Melissa ISD to her new role as Dean of Students at Highland Elementary. Prior to joining Melissa ISD, she taught kindergarten through second grade, where she served as a team leader and developed a passion for supporting both students and fellow educators. During her time in Melissa ISD, Ycaza taught second and third grade, was part of the team that opened Highland Elementary in 2025, and recently completed the Cardinal Leadership Academy, further strengthening her commitment to serving and leading within the Melissa ISD community. Ycaza is grateful for the opportunity to serve Highland Elementary as Dean of Students and is passionate about creating a positive and welcoming environment for all students, staff, and families. She looks forward to building connections, investing in teachers, and ensuring every student feels known, supported, and inspired to grow as they continue to experience the heart of The Cardinal Way.

“Michelle's passion for building relationships, supporting students, and serving others makes her the perfect fit for Highland Elementary and the Dean of Students role on our campus,” shared HES Principal, Brandon McFarland. “She is a leader who genuinely cares about people and understands the importance of creating a positive, student-centered school culture. I am confident she will be an incredible asset to our staff, students, and families as we continue building something special together at Highland. I couldn't be more excited to welcome Michelle to our leadership team!”
