The Melissa ISD Police Department is partnering with the Melissa Police Department, Melissa Fire Department, Collin County Sheriff's Office, and the Department of Public Safety to host an Active Attack Integrated Response (AAIR) Train-the-Trainer course on July 30-31 at the Melissa Sixth Grade Center (3150 Cardinal Dr).
The performance-based training is designed to strengthen coordination between law enforcement, fire, emergency medical services (EMS), and emergency communications personnel during active attack incidents. Participants will receive instruction on tactical emergency casualty care (TECC) principles and integrated response strategies that improve communication, coordination, and victim survivability during emergency situations.
As part of the training, the community may notice an increased presence of law enforcement, fire, and emergency response vehicles near the campus, along with additional personnel in the area. Portions of the training may take place outdoors and could include loud noises or simulated emergency scenarios. This is only a training exercise, and there is no threat to the public.

Hosting advanced training such as the AAIR course reflects the district's ongoing commitment to maintaining safe, well-prepared schools and supporting the professionals who protect students, staff, and the broader community.
