MHS Track & Field Advancing to Regionals

The Melissa High School Varsity Track and Field teams dominated the UIL 9-10 5A Area Track Meet on April 17 in Mount Pleasant with one Area Champion and a total of 14 athletes headed to Regionals! The MHS Track and Field team left the meet victorious with four individual athletes and three teams qualifying for Regionals.

"These ladies continue to impress, whether in practice or at meets,” Girls Track Head Coach Zachary Hernandez said. “Each athlete is on a specific plan designed to build on the success they have deservedly achieved throughout the season. We have two more challenges ahead, as we set our sights on earning a state championship appearance in more than one of these events."

Boys Track Head Coach Nate Hemsley also said, “Four months of work got us here—but the job’s not finished. The goal is State. Regionals isn’t the finish line—it’s where we prove we belong.”

The Regional Track Meet will take place on Friday and Saturday, May 1-2 at the University of Texas at Arlington Maverick Stadium. Good luck to all of these student-athletes. Go Cardinals!
