In the Technical Computer Applications event, sophomore student Hannah Gil earned the State Championship title. Tyler Mathieson, MHS Graduate and former Technical Computer Applications National Champion who is now competing at the collegiate level, served as Hannah’s coach this year. Hannah won the gold medal at the State in technical computer applications and is slated to compete at the Nationals in Atlanta, GA, from June 1-5, 2026. Tyler was also named the 2026 College State Champion and will also be competing at the collegiate level national competition in June. Tyler is currently working to help Hannah prepare for the national competition and he prepares as well!
The Entrepreneurship Team earned 1st place and will also represent MHS at the SkillsUSA National Conference: Pranad Arcot, Shlok Chaubey, Sai Venkata Sri Suvan Vajjaha, and Ayan Bhardwaj.
The Melissa ISD Director of CTE & Health Services Hallie Venner, shared her excitement for the team and their development this season, “SkillsUSA is the most comprehensive CTSO in Melissa ISD. It has events for every single program of study offered in a CTE setting. Our students are exemplary models of the future workforce. They performed at an extremely high level at the state competition and will represent Cardinal Nation well at the national level! The SkillsUSA competition is meant to mirror the real world and provide students with transferable skills that they will utilize in their future careers. It truly is an amazing opportunity for our students and I am so proud of their growth!”
Thank you to all the CTE teachers and coaches who have worked with our SkillsUSA students to fine-tune their skills for competition season.
Congratulations to all of the SkillsUSA participants and teachers!
