Melissa ISD is proud to host the 2026 Special Olympics Texas Summer Games, taking place April 30–May 2. This multi-day event will welcome thousands of athletes, coaches, and volunteers to Melissa for an unforgettable celebration of athleticism and community spirit.
Competitions will take place across multiple Melissa ISD venues, including the high school track, stadium, and gymnasium, as well as additional facilities such as the Z-Plex. The event will feature a variety of sports and special activities designed to create an inclusive and memorable experience for all participants.
To support the event, Melissa High School will observe a Teacher Work Day on Friday, May 1, 2026, allowing staff and students to serve as volunteers and assist with increased campus traffic. All other Melissa ISD campuses will remain open and operate as usual.
If you would like to volunteer for this event as a community member, please visit SOTX Volunteer Form.
The community is invited to attend the Opening Ceremony on Friday, May 1 at 6:30 p.m. at Coach Kenny Deel Stadium and help celebrate the athletes competing in this year’s games.
