UIL released the new 2026-2028 alignment for football, volleyball, and basketball on Feb. 2, 2026. The Cardinals will continue to compete in 5A in all extracurricular activities and moved to 5A Division 1 in football. Football will head to District 5-5A Division 1 in Region 2, while volleyball and basketball remain in District 9-5A in Region 2.
Cardinal football is joined by multiple Frisco schools along with McKinney North to complete the eight-team district.
