The Melissa High School Special Olympics Cheerleader Squad, Cards Inspire, has earned the title of Special Olympics NCA High School Champions for the second consecutive year in a row! On Friday, January 23, 2026, the squad participated in the Special Olympics NCA High School State Competition held at the Fort Worth Convention Center. The team performed in the Beginner Traditional division, showcasing a Game Day Rally as part of the Friday Night Lights competition.
“Throughout the season, our athletes demonstrated outstanding dedication and commitment. They competed in two additional competitions leading up to state, strengthening their skills, confidence, and performance readiness. I am incredibly proud of the team’s effort, teamwork, and sportsmanship. They consistently arrived at practice ready to work, supported one another, and carried Cardinal spirit wherever they went. Their performance at State was a true reflection of their dedication and pride in Melissa High School,” said MHS Special Olympics Cheerleading Coach and SPED teacher, Crystal Phillips.
Ms. Phillips also expressed her gratitude to Caitlyn Grant and Principal Marcus Eckert for their dedicated support to the program. Melissa ISD is incredibly proud of Cards Inspire for their hard work, determination, and incredible teamwork. Their enthusiasm and success inspire our entire community!
