State semifinals update

This Cardinal Spirit Friday is a big day for Melissa! Our Varsity Football team is headed to the UIL 5A Division I Semifinals at the Cotton Bowl, and just steps away, our Melissa High School and East Cardinal Middle School robotics teams are competing at the UIL State Robotics Competition at the Fair Park Coliseum. See below for all the details so we can pack all the stands with Red Red!

MHS & ECMS Robotics Team at State, Fair Park Coliseum

If you’re coming out to cheer on the Cards at the Cotton Bowl, swing by the Coliseum first and support our state-level robotics teams. Our robotics program has qualified for state 10 years in a row, earned multiple top-six finishes, and been named state runner-up three times. This year’s team is aiming higher than ever. Admission is free, and they’ll be competing until about 7:30 p.m. before walking over together to support our Melissa Cardinal Football team!

Varsity Football Send-Off

The community is invited to join us Friday at 3:25 p.m. at the Melissa High School Championship Center to cheer on our Melissa Cardinal football team as they depart for the State Semifinals. Come line the walkway and show your support as the Cardinals head to the bus and make their way to the big game. Our Melissa ISD Police Department and Texas State Troopers will escort the Cardinals to the Cotton Bowl.

Melissa High School Student Fan Bus

Melissa High School students have the opportunity to ride the Fan Bus to the State Semifinals game. Students received an email earlier this week with details about riding the MHS Fan Bus.

  • The Fan Bus departs from in front of the MHS main office at 4:15 p.m.

  • Students must purchase their own game ticket and show proof of purchase before boarding.

  • Students riding the fan bus must also wear their MHS student ID.

  • The Fan Bus will return 1-2 hours after the game, so students should bring a credit card or form of payment as concessions are cashless.

  • Space is limited and first come, first served. Students wanting to ride the fan bus must sign-up using the Google Form sent in the email earlier this week.

Parking

  • Fans should only park within the Fair Park area. Use Fair Park Entrances 4-10.

  • Parking of America is the official parking vendor of Fair Park. The use of third-party parking vendors or nearby business parking areas is strongly discouraged.

  • The Cotton Bowl parking fee will be $10. Credit card only; no cash accepted.

Seating

  • Cardinals Fans should enter through Gate A as Melissa ISD is the Home team.

  • MISD student section is Section 4. Band, cheer, and drill team will be in Section 3.

  • While the stadium is open seating, we encourage all Cardinals fans to pack the lower bowl on the home side, Sections 4-10, to cheer on our team!
