Cardinal Student Media at TAJE Fall Conference

The Melissa High School Cardinal Student Media attended the Texas Association of Journalism Educators Fall Fiesta conference this past weekend where students enjoyed full days of learning and even earned multiple digital photography awards. Led by their teachers, Karla Romero Paramo and Quelonn Lucious, this marked the group’s first time participating in the statewide event.

During the conference, students attended a variety of sessions focused on different areas of journalism, including photography, design, news writing, broadcast, and interviewing. These sessions gave students the opportunity to learn from industry professionals and explore new ways to grow their skills.

The MHS Cardinal Student Media team also competed in the Digital Photography contest, where students had three hours to complete assignments in five categories around the hotel. Their work stood out among the many submissions, earning excellent and superior ratings on three submitted photos.

Congratulations to the MHS Cardinal Student Media program and the two student photographers whose photos were recognized for excellence. Melissa ISD is proud to see this student program take off and can’t wait to see what the future holds.
