Cross Country Girls

Congratulations to the Melissa High School Girls Cross Country team, who competed at the UIL 5A District 9 Championships on Tuesday, October 7, placing 3rd as a team overall with all five runners qualifying for the Regional Championships.

As a team, junior Diem Casselberry, junior Payten Gutierrez, senior Paige Jessen, junior Erin Gilkerson, and freshman Grace Vuong all contributed to the team’s points. Overall, the team totaled 83 points, earning them 3rd place in the District Championships.

An additional congratulations to our two runners who placed within the top ten. Diem, who will be running at the Regional Championships for the second consecutive year, finished 4th overall with a 5K time of 19:39 and Grace placed 6th with a time of 19:48.

Congratulations to the entire team for their dedication and success so far this season, and best of luck to the whole team as they represent Melissa High School at the Regional Championships on Monday, October 20, at 10:00 a.m. at the University of Texas at Arlington.
