Theatrical Design

Melissa High School theatre student Cecilia Tran has been named the State Champion in the Hair and Makeup category of the UIL 5A Theatrical Design Competition. Cecilia earned 1st place honors, rising above nine other top students from across Texas who advanced to the prestigious State Competition.

Director Aubrey Moore expressed her pride in Cecilia's accomplishment, stating, “We are tremendously proud of Cecilia for this accomplishment, but even more proud of the hard work she has put in along the way. This honor is a testament to her creativity, determination, and unwavering effort.”

Her award-winning designs will be on display this week in the lobby of the Austin ISD Performing Arts Center, where the UIL One Act Play State Competition is currently underway.

Congratulations to Cecilia on this incredible accomplishment, and to her director, Aubrey Moore, for her outstanding guidance and support throughout the process. Cecilia’s success reflects her talent, creativity, and passion for theatrical design, as well as the strength of the Melissa High School Theatre program. We are proud to celebrate this remarkable achievement and wish Cecilia all the best as she graduates and embarks on the next chapter of her journey.
