Congratulations to Melissa High School junior Steven Rodriguez for having his artwork selected for the 2025 AD EX Art of Architecture Juried Art Exhibition! Inspired by the design of Gothic stained glass windows, he created a ceramic vase. His piece was selected as one of the winning entries and will be featured in a public exhibit at the Architecture and Design Foundation in Dallas from April 29 through May 30.
The AD EX Art of Architecture Juried Art Competition invites middle and high school students to explore architecture through a creative lens. Hosted by the Architecture and Design Foundation, the annual contest challenges students to express architectural ideas using a wide range of artistic mediums. Selected works are displayed in a month-long exhibition in downtown Dallas, celebrating student innovation and the connection between art, design, and the built environment.
“As a practicing artist, finding relevant, meaningful art shows and staying on top of their deadlines is hard work. Steven found this juried show through his interests in architecture,” said MHS art teacher, Diana Ortiz. “We worked together to get his work finished on time, but it was entirely his initiative and determination. I am incredibly proud of his efforts.”
Congratulations again to Steven on this outstanding achievement! We also extend our appreciation to Diana Ortiz for supporting and encouraging student creativity in and out of the classroom. We’re proud to see Cardinal artists representing Melissa ISD with such talent and heart.
