MHS Visual Arts Students Competed at VASE Regionals

The Melissa Visual Arts program had ten students who competed at the Regional Texas High School Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE) on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2024, at Memorial High School in Frisco, TX. All ten students received the highest possible score, with two students qualifying for the state competition that is to take place on April 26-27, 2024 at San Marcos High School.

The following students earned top honors – a Rating IV mark and medal – at the VASE: Genevieve Harry, Riley Hefel, Logan Venner (state qualifier), Shanza Shaharyar, Addison Bellue, AnaBelle Gonzales (state qualifier), Yacouba Ouologuem, Dylan Wilson, Crischa Tuscano, and Sophia Helton.

The Texas High School Visual Arts Program (VASE) receives approximately 35,000 entries per year. Students who participate in the VASE competition must create an original art piece, share a narrative reflecting on their creative process and understanding of visual arts, and engage in a discussion about their artwork with a judge.
