The Melissa High School Boys and Girls Wrestling teams are headed to the UIL State Championships. The MHS Wrestling teams competed at the UIL Regionals Tournament on Feb. 9-10. Both teams dominated at the tournament and had wrestlers that qualified for state.
The MHS Girls Wrestling team had five wrestlers competing at the UIL Regionals Tournament. Three of the wrestlers qualified for state with two of them finishing as Regional Champions in their respective weight class. The MHS Girls team placed 4th overall at the tournament.
The MHS Boys Wrestling team had 13 wrestlers competing at the UIL Regionals Tournament. The team ended with 10 wrestlers qualifying for State with one additional wrestler qualifying as an alternate. Six of the state qualifiers finished as the Regional Champions in their respective weight class. The MHS Boys Wrestling team ended the tournament as the Regional Champion Team.
