Billy Watkins has been hired to serve as the head golf coach at Melissa High School. Student-athletes, parents, guardians, and members of the community are invited to attend a meet-and-greet event with Coach Watkins at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23 in the VIP Lounge at the Melissa Championship Center.
For the last 24 years, Coach Watkins has taught Economics and Government and served as the head golf coach at Rockwall High School. During his tenure at Rockwall, he advanced four teams to state, which led to individual and team medals and the state runner-up title in 2002.
A native of Sulphur Springs, Watkins graduated from East Texas State University where he attended on a football scholarship and earned his bachelor’s degree in Finance.
