Substitute Teaching

Melissa ISD partners with ESS to manage the substitute teaching program. A leader in K-12 staffing, ESS is responsible hiring, training, and placing all substitute teachers and aides. If you are interested in working as a substitute for our district, you must meet the qualifications and complete the online application.

Qualifications

  • Requires high school diploma, highest degree completed, and/or teacher certification.

  • Requires proof of right to work in the U.S. (i.e. social security card, current passport, driver license, permanent resident card).

Pay

Note: The substitute teaching pay schedule is weekly on Fridays.

  • Certified Teacher Substitute – $125.00

  • Degreed Substitute (Bachelors & Above) – $115.00

  • Non-Degreed Substitute – $100.00

  • Aide/Receptionist Roles – $100.00

  • Nurse – $150.00

  2. Complete the Online New Hire paperwork.

  3. Complete TEA Fingerprint and pass the FBI Background Check.

  4. Attend Substitute Orientation and Training.
