Camp Gladiator is partnering with Melissa ISD to host the first annual NTX Family Stadium Challenge, a new trainer-led workout competition for all ages, fitness levels, and abilities, held at Cardinal Stadium on Saturday, May 14. It costs $12 to compete, spectators can cheer on family and friends from the stands for free, and all earned proceeds will go back to Melissa Schools. In an effort to gather feedback from Melissa ISD parents and guardians regarding the 2021-2022 school year, we invite you to complete the Melissa Middle School Parent Survey by visiting https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/mmssurvey2022. For the fourth consecutive year, the Melissa Middle School UIL A+ Academics team has won the district championship. On top of that, our students brought home 74 individual awards and 24 team awards from the district meet. We are so proud of our Cardinals and our UIL A+ Academics sponsor, Mrs. Walthall! Due to the winter weather situation, the Melissa High School judged cheerleading tryouts are being rescheduled from Thursday, Feb. 24, and the tryout clinic scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 23 is canceled. The new date for judged tryouts will be posted on the events calendar and at www.melissaisd.org/cheer as soon as it is determined.
Due to the winter weather forecast and increasingly hazardous road conditions across the metroplex, Melissa ISD will be closed Thursday, February 24. All extracurricular activities are canceled for both Wednesday and Thursday. Carpool and bus delays are expected during Wednesday afternoon dismissal. Melissa ISD will continue to monitor conditions throughout the day on Thursday and will communicate if the decision is made to close or delay school on Friday, February 25. As a reminder, Melissa ISD students do not have school on Monday, Feb. 21 due to a scheduled Staff Development Day. School will resume Tuesday, Feb. 22.
