Feb. 3 @ 7:25 a.m. - Inclement weather decisions are always tough and are made with the safety of staff and students in mind. After further evaluation, Melissa ISD schools and offices will remain closed on Friday, Feb. 3.
Feb. 2 @ 6:45 p.m. - Out of precaution, Melissa ISD schools and offices will open with a two-hour delayed start on Friday, Feb. 3. Buses will run two hours later than normal and cafeteria breakfast will not be served due to school starting late. Before-school activities are canceled for Friday. Regarding possible make-up days for this week’s closures, the district will communicate further information at a later date.
The Melissa ISD two-hour delayed start times for Friday, Feb. 3 are as follows: Pre-K students start at 9:30 a.m.; elementary students (grades K-5) start at 9:45 a.m.; middle school students (grades 6-8) start at 10:35 a.m.; and high school students (grades 9-12) start at 10:15 a.m. Employees should arrive two hours later than normal.
Early dropoff begins 30 minutes prior to the delayed school start time. Melissa High School will follow the Delayed Start Bell Schedule. DAEP starts at 9:45 a.m.
Feb. 1 @ 2 p.m. - With road conditions not improving and continued winter weather in the forecast, Melissa ISD schools and offices will remain closed Thursday, Feb. 2. All school activities and events are canceled for Thursday. The district is closely monitoring area conditions and will communicate by Thursday evening if the decision is made to close or delay school on Friday, Feb. 3. We appreciate your attention and patience during this weather event as we determine a course of action that prioritizes the safety of all students, staff, and families.
Jan. 31 @ 1 p.m. - Due to the winter weather forecast and hazardous road conditions, Melissa ISD schools and offices will remain closed Tuesday, Jan. 31 and Wednesday, Feb. 1. All school activities and events are canceled for both Tuesday and Wednesday. The district will continue to monitor area conditions and will communicate any updates as expediently as possible.
Jan. 30 @ 6 p.m. - Due to the winter weather forecast and increasingly hazardous road conditions across the metroplex, Melissa ISD will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 31. All before-school and after-school activities are canceled for Tuesday. The district will continue to monitor area conditions and will communicate any updates as expediently as possible. Jan. 30 @ 2:36 p.m. - In an effort to expedite afternoon dismissal today, Monday, Jan. 30, Melissa High School students who drive to school will be dismissed at 3:05 p.m.
Jan. 30 @ 12:30 p.m. - All Melissa ISD after-school activities are canceled for Monday, Jan. 30 and the school day will continue as normal.
We are closely monitoring the weather forecast and road conditions across the metroplex, with the safety of everyone top-of-mind. During Monday afternoon dismissal, please know that our bus drivers and staff will be exercising extreme caution. As a result, afternoon carpool and bus delays are expected.
