Melissa ISD proudly appoints Travis Spencer as the new Melissa High School baseball head coach. Coach Spencer is entering his fifth year with Melissa High School and his 6th year in Education, where he has taught Physical Education and Business Information Management. He has served four years as the program’s Hitting Coordinator and Assistant Coach, along with two years as Associate Head Coach. During that tenure, he has amassed 3 playoff appearances, most recently a deep run in 2026 where the Cardinals finished as Regional Finalists.

“Coach Travis Spencer is exactly the kind of leader our baseball program needs. He’s a caring, genuine person who builds strong relationships with players and families alike. Kids respect and love playing for him because they know he truly cares about them both on and off the field. Parents appreciate his character, leadership, and the positive example he sets every day,” said Melissa ISD Athletic Director Seth Stinton. “Coach Spencer brings energy, integrity, and a vision that will move our baseball program forward in a very positive way.”

Coach Spencer later continued his collegiate career at Texas Christian University, contributing to two Mountain West Conference Championship teams. He finished his playing career at Texas Wesleyan University, where he became a 2-time All-Conference Outfielder, National Player of the Week, won the 2010 Red River Conference Championship, and was later named to the University’s 2010–2020 All-Decade Team.

Following his playing career, Coach Spencer began coaching as a Graduate Assistant at Texas Wesleyan University from 2012–2014 where he made consecutive NAIA National Tournaments.
