Sit With Us
Conversation & Connection
Sit With Us began as a small discussion group that met monthly at the Melissa ISD Home Office to discuss concerns and determine ways to collectively work toward solutions.
With involvement from parents, community members, staff, and administrators, the initial Sit With Us group grew in size and momentum over the course of two years. Sit With Us has since expanded to include campus-based groups to create more opportunities for parent involvement.

Why "Sit With Us"?
Sit With Us meetings provide parents/guardians with an opportunity to come together and discuss ideas, concerns, and potential solutions regarding matters at Melissa Schools. The philosophy of Sit With Us is that Melissa parents are Cardinal Champions who see the best for not only their students but for all students. If it matters to one Cardinal, it matters to all Cardinals.

Sit With Us: The Superintendent's Office Podcast
At Melissa ISD, we believe real relationships happen when people sit together, listen, and share. That’s what it means to be a Sit With Us district — creating intentional opportunities to connect across our schools and community. The Superintendent’s Office Podcast is rooted in the Sit With Us philosophy that Melissa parents are Cardinal Champions who seek the best for every student—not just their own. This podcast brings the Sit With Us experience to you, even when you can’t join us in person.
We invite parents and community members to submit questions or topics you’d like us to discuss, so we can create meaningful conversations that reflect what matters most to our community. After all, if it matters to one Cardinal, it matters to all.

Created by Sit With Us
Cardinal Flock Newcomer Ice Cream Social
The Cardinal Flock Newcomer Ice Cream Social was developed by Sit With Us in an effort to reach families new to the community, after reflecting on Melissa ISD's rapid growth during the COVID-19 pandemic, during which time many of the typical introductory school activities were not held in-person for new parents and guardians to attend.
Families were invited to a come-and-go ice cream social at the Home Office to get acquainted with Melissa Schools. PTOs and other groups had information tables set up that parents and guardians could visit. Board members, staff, and parent volunteers served ice cream and a "Welcome Cardinals" photo booth was set up for photo ops.
