Sit With Us

Conversation & Connection
Sit With Us began as a small discussion group that met monthly at the Melissa ISD Home Office to discuss concerns and determine ways to collectively work toward solutions.

With involvement from parents, community members, staff, and administrators, the initial Sit With Us group grew in size and momentum over the course of two years. Sit With Us has since expanded to include campus-based groups to create more opportunities for parent involvement.

Why "Sit With Us"?
The philosophy of Sit With Us is that Melissa parents are Cardinal Champions who see the best for not only their students but for all students. If it matters to one Cardinal, it matters to all Cardinals.

To learn more about Sit With Us, view the Parent Profile developed by Sit With Us participants and modeled after the District Profile.

Cardinal Flock Newcomer Ice Cream Social

The Cardinal Flock Newcomer Ice Cream Social was developed by Sit With Us in an effort to reach families new to the community, after reflecting on Melissa ISD's rapid growth during the COVID-19 pandemic, during which time many of the typical introductory school activities were not held in-person for new parents and guardians to attend.

Families were invited to a come-and-go ice cream social at the Home Office to get acquainted with Melissa Schools. PTOs and other groups had information tables set up that parents and guardians could visit. Board members, staff, and parent volunteers served ice cream and a "Welcome Cardinals" photo booth was set up for photo ops.
