Melissa ISD had four staff and one student recognized at the Melissa Chamber of Commerces’ Spotlight on Melissa Awards Banquet that took place on Thursday, January 29. The awardees were recognized for their consistent dedication, hard work, and genuine care for the community. Please join us in congratulating each of the award recipients below:
Melissa Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet Melissa ISD Awardees:
Student of the Year: Cooper Crawford
This award honors a student who lives out the Cardinal Way in leadership, academics, service, and character. They are someone who builds relationships, uplifts peers, and sets a standard of excellence in our schools and city. The awardee this year also received the following two scholarships: Walter Perez Educator’s Legacy Scholarship and Colby Green Leadership Scholarship
Community Partner of the Year: Melissa ISD, Superintendent Keith Murphy
This award recognizes an organization, nonprofit, or group that has worked collaboratively with the Chamber or Melissa businesses to uplift residents. This group is a true connector and collaborator in bridging business and community.
Person of the Year: Brett Gustaveson “Señor G”
This award celebrates an individual whose vision, leadership, influence, and service have made a profound impact on Melissa. This awardee is someone who inspires others and helps unite our community and business world.
Public Safety Award: Lieutenant Laura Robeson
This award recognizes a first responder, law enforcement officer, or public safety professional who has shown exceptional leadership, dedication, and service in protecting Melissa and strengthening our community’s trust and well-being.
School Spirit Award: Lauren Power
This award honors a student, teacher, or Melissa ISD staff member who has embodied the Cardinal Way through pride, engagement, positivity, and a commitment to uplifting others within our schools and community.
