Four Melissa High School students participated in the UIL District 13-5A Swim Meet, representing Melissa ISD on January 23, 2026, at the Prosper Natatorium. In the boys meet, junior Everette Bell and senior Maxim Smirnov competed in the 50 and 100 yard freestyle and the 100 yard breaststroke. In the girls meet, freshman Liliana Wong and sophomore Lillian Montbriand competed in the 50 and 100 yard freestyle.
Smirnov excelled in the Boys 50 Yard Freestyle, securing 3rd place with a time of 23.03 with Bell following closely in 4th place with a time of 23.13. In the same event in the girls bracket, Wong came in 13th with a time of 34.59.
In the Boys 100 Yard Freestyle, Bell claimed 3rd place with an impressive time of 50.83. In the girls bracket, Wong finished in 11th with a time of 1:16.66 with Montbriand following right behind in 12th place with a time of 1:17.62.
Lastly, in the boys 100 yard breaststroke, Smirnov finished in 2nd place with a time of 1:01.73.
With impressive performances in their respective events, Smirnov and Bell earned their spots in the UIL Regionals Swim Meet on Feb. 6-7, 2026, at New Caney ISD.
