Student Absence Reporting

Student absences from school can be reported online by following the steps below. Student absences should only be reported by the child's custodial parent or guardian.

Please be reminded that Melissa ISD students may receive a total of three (3) excused absences, by parent/guardian note, each school year. In the comments section of the absence reporting form, please include an explanation for the absence. If the student had a medical appointment, please turn in documentation as explained on this page.

How to Report an Absence Online

  1. Navigate to your student's school website. To do this from anywhere on the Melissa ISD website (www.melissaisd.org), in the top navigation menu, select "Schools" and then select your student's school.

  2. Scroll down the page past the rotating image slideshow and select the red button titled "Report an Absence" to open the form.

  3. Provide the requested information about your student's absence, including a reason for the absence.

  4. When you are ready to submit the absence report, select the "Submit" button; a confirmation message will be displayed that says your information has been received by the school.

  5. Absence reports will be sent to the front office at your student's school. Questions regarding student absences can be directed to the campus attendance clerk.

How to Provide Medical Documentation:

If your student was absent due to a medical appointment, please report the absence online, and then provide documentation from the doctor to the school using one of the following methods:

  1. directly email a copy of the doctor's note to the campus attendance clerk, or

  2. turn in a paper copy of the doctor's note to the school office.
