Documentation After Absence
A parent must provide an explanation for any student absences. A signed parent note or email must be provided to the campus attendance clerk within three (3) days of a student’s return to school. It is the district’s practice that students may receive three (3) excused absences by parent note each year. The campus will document in its attendance records whether the absence is excused or unexcused.
For absences due to medical appointments, a written doctor’s note must be provided to the campus attendance clerk within three (3) days of a student’s return to school. The doctor's note can either be directly emailed to the campus attendance clerk or turned in to the school office. The doctor’s note will be used to excuse the student’s absence. A student who is absent for more than five (5) consecutive days because of personal illness must bring a statement from the doctor or health clinic verifying the illness or condition that caused the absence within three (3) days of the student’s returning to school. Otherwise, the absence may be considered unexcused and in violation of compulsory attendance laws.
