Cardinal Renaissance Academy -

Melissa ISD families are invited to come together for a special community service event to help prepare students for a successful school year on Sunday, July 26, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Cardinal Renaissance Academy Gym (2950 Cardinal Drive).

Thanks to a generous donation from Verizon Melissa, 600 backpacks have been provided for Melissa ISD students. Community members are invited to help fill the backpacks with school supplies to ensure students begin the school year prepared and ready to learn.

This is a wonderful opportunity to serve together as a family while meeting other Melissa ISD families and staff.

How families can help:

• Bring new school supplies to donate. Note: Families who bring donations will be entered into a raffle for prizes from local businesses.

• Help sort and fill backpacks.

• Meet school staff and build community.

• Enjoy family-friendly games and activities.

• Grab dinner or a sweet treat from the food trucks.

The backpack fill event is proudly sponsored by all Melissa ISD elementary PTOs and serves as an opportunity for the district and community to work together in supporting local students. Every backpack filled helps ensure another Melissa ISD student starts the school year feeling prepared, encouraged, and supported.
