The Melissa Cardinal Baseball and Softball teams are proud to present the inaugural 2026 Cardinal Classic on January 24 at the Melissa Z-Plex. This community-wide event will bring together athletes, families, and local businesses for a day of competition, fun, and Cardinal spirit.
The Cardinal Classic Event will feature the Redbird Rookie Experience Training Camp for students in grades K-5 (information and how to register below) and the Cardinal Classic Wiffle Ball Tournament for students in grades 6-12 along with Melissa ISD staff. Following the Redbird Rookie Experience, families are invited to stay and watch the Wiffle Ball Tournament, which will begin at 12:00 p.m. More information coming soon to students and staff.
Redbird Rookie Experience
The Redbird Rookie Experience is designed for Melissa ISD students in grades K-5. The $100 registration includes:
A training camp and skills competition at the Cardinal Classic Event on Jan. 24 from 8:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m.
A Melissa Baseball or Softball Jersey
The in-season Redbird Rookie Experience, including player introductions, base running, a personal letter from a favorite player, and more.
