Fall 2025 Food Drive

Melissa ISD students are encouraged to help fight hunger this fall by collecting and donating food items to support local families in need.

The Fall 2025 Food Drive will run from October 27 through November 7 and will encourage students to “fill the red bag” in their classroom with non-perishable food items. Student groups on each campus will coordinate food collection and encourage participation among their peers. All food donations collected will go to families in the Melissa community through the First Melissa Christmas Angel Program and the Melissa Community Outreach Food Pantry. As an added incentive, the homeroom class (or advisory class at the secondary level) at each campus that collects the most items will win a special “Breakfast with Birdie.”

Additionally, community members are encouraged to participate in the Food Drive by bringing nonperishable or canned items to “Fill the Bus” on Friday, November 7, at the varsity football game.

Suggested donation items include: dry pasta, oatmeal, peanut butter & jelly, canned veggies, cereal, mac and cheese, canned soup, creamed soup, canned meat, Hamburger Helper, rice, and dry/canned beans.
