A little kindness can go a long way, and when our community comes together, even the smallest donations can make a big difference. This fall, Melissa ISD invites students, staff, and community members to help local families by participating in the Fall 2026 Food Drive.
Running October 26 through November 6, this districtwide effort encourages students to “Fill the Red Bag” in their classrooms with non-perishable food items. Student groups on each campus will help lead the effort, encouraging their classmates to give back to our community.
Every item collected will help support families right here in Melissa through the First Melissa Christmas Angel Program and the Melissa Community Outreach Food Pantry.
The community is invited to participate, too! On Friday, November 6, fans attending the varsity football game to cheer on our Cardinals are encouraged to bring unexpired, nonperishable food items to help “Fill the Bus.”
Suggested donation items include:
Dry pasta and rice
Oatmeal and cereal
Peanut butter and jelly
Canned vegetables and beans
Canned soup and creamed soup
Canned meat
Mac and cheese
Hamburger Helper
Let’s come together to show what makes Melissa so special. Every bag, every donation, and every act of kindness makes a difference for our neighbors. Together, we can fill the bags, fill the bus, and make a meaningful impact in our community!
