Three new assistant principals will join the Melissa ISD elementary leadership team in the upcoming 2021-2022 school year.


Amy Edwards, North Creek Elementary

Amy Edwards will serve as the assistant principal at North Creek Elementary alongside principal Michele Austin. Mrs. Edwards has served as an elementary teacher for the last seven years.

Ms. Austin shared, “We are blessed to welcome Amy Edwards as the new assistant principal at North Creek Elementary. Mrs. Edwards believes in fostering a school and community culture where everyone has dignity and feels they belong. Her passion for learning and building relationships will be a tremendous asset to Melissa Schools.”

William Daniel, Harry McKillop Elementary

William Daniel will serve as the assistant principal at Harry McKillop Elementary alongside principal Krissy Womack, as the school’s current assistant principal, Lindsay Pitts, moves to a new role in central administration. Mr. Daniel has served as an educator for 12 years in both teaching and administrative roles.

Mrs. Womack shared, “I am thrilled to welcome Mr. William Daniel to our #HMEproud family and to the Melissa community. From the moment you meet him, it becomes clear that Mr. Daniel has a heart for building positive relationships, a commitment to excellence, rich leadership experience, and most importantly, a dedication to students. Mr. Daniel will complement the established successes of HME and join Team Melissa in building a strong elementary experience for our Cardinals.”

Julie Armstrong, Willow Wood Elementary

Julie Armstrong will serve as the assistant principal at Willow Wood Elementary alongside principal Precious Bale. Mrs. Armstrong has 14 years of elementary teaching experience, most recently teaching fourth grade at Harry McKillop Elementary.

Mrs. Bale shared, “I am thrilled to welcome Mrs. Armstrong to Willow Wood Elementary. Mrs. Armstrong is a dedicated, student-centered leader who will move mountains for all students and staff. Her commitment to the Melissa community exudes grace, love, and compassion.”

Deputy Superintendent Dr. Robert Rich added, “We were very pleased with the quality of the applicant pool for these positions. There was a lot of interest from both internal applicants and the external applicants. The campus-based interview committees spent a lot of time matching potential candidates to each assistant principal position, and there was complete consensus on the recommendations that were presented to the Board of Trustees.”
