Programs & Services

Our counseling program at Melissa Middle School offers a wide variety of services for your child. Please contact the counseling office at 972-837-4355 for general questions, and contact your child’s counselor for specific questions or concerns. Below, please review the variety of programs and services that are currently available at Melissa Middle School.

Individual Counseling

Counselors are available to meet with students on an individual basis for any social, emotional or academic concerns. Referrals are through staff, parent, peer or self. Referrals are made through emails, calls, or counselor mailbox.

Group Counseling

We will be offering various support groups, based on student need, throughout the school year. Groups meet weekly or monthly. Students participate in groups through a parent or staff referral, or they may refer themselves. Written parent permission is required.

Classroom Presentations

Counselors visit 6th-, 7th- and 8th-grade classrooms year-round to present information on college and career readiness, age-appropriate social and emotional topics, as well as scheduling procedures and class selection for the following year.

Parent Presentations

We offer several parent presentations throughout the year, including: #SAFE: Join the conversation – Straight talk about adolescent stress, peer pressure, mental health, and other issues facing youth today.
