The Melissa High School Marching band competed at the Region Marching Contest on Saturday, Oct. 18, earning straight Division 1 ratings from all judges. This rating advanced them to the Area competition.
MHS Band Director Kevin McNulty shared his enthusiasm about the band’s progress, "The band staff is incredibly proud of our students' success over the weekend. They have demonstrated significant improvement, and their hard work is being recognized by the judging community. We look forward to seeing how much the students will challenge themselves in the next two weeks as we prepare for our Area competition."
Senior and Band President Steven Rodriguez also reflected on this experience, "Performing at Region felt unreal - a huge step for our program. Now we're driving that energy into Area with the confidence to redefine what's possible for this program."
The Mighty Cardinal Band will take the field at the Area Marching Contest on Saturday, Nov. 1, at our very own Coach Kenny Deel Stadium! The band will perform at 10:15 a.m. We encourage Cardinal families to come out, show their support, and cheer on our talented students.
Tickets are $9 per person. Children ages 11 and under, as well as seniors 65 and older, receive free admission. Tickets can be purchased at www.melissaisd.org/melissa_area_contest.
