The Melissa Cardinals boys and girls wrestling teams are the 5A Regional Champions, earning 9 individual regional titles at this weekend’s 5A Region III Championships in College Station. With the top four finishers in each weight class advancing, 18 Cardinal wrestlers have qualified for the State Meet.
The girls’ team captured 3 individual regional titles and qualified 9 wrestlers for the state meet, with two additional alternates, while the boys’ team earned 6 individual regional titles and qualified 9 wrestlers for the state meet. The fifth-place finishers in each bracket qualify for the state meet as alternates.
The UIL State Wrestling Championships will take place Friday and Saturday, February 13-14, at the Berry Center in Cypress, Texas. Best of luck to our Cardinal wrestlers as they continue their journey toward a state title!
